A Home on a Greek Island

The headline to a 2012 New York Times article “Is there anything Marc Newson hasn’t designed?” is purely rhetorical. His design talents have touched all aspects of daily life including his designs for the Australian airline Quantas, in which he envisioned everything from the business class seats to the lounges to the check-in experience. He has designed cameras, watches, and speedboats for the ultra-rich. He has worked with Nike on sneakers inspired by astronauts and limited edition Air Max shoes. He has even prototyped a futuristic jetpack and designed 10 limited edition katanas inspired by traditional Japanese samurai weapons—which had a price tag of $300,000 each. His talents are such that when Jony Ive decided to leave Apple to form his own Design Studio he asked Marc to be a co-founder and partner.

So we were honored when he reached out to CoorItalia to help design is Greek island getaway.

What followed was four years of close (and very detailed, as you would expect from a Master of his Craft) collaboration to design the perfect wood windows, window hardware, bronze railings and balustrade.

The project is captured in this Financial Times article
