Teak is the preferred wood choice got high humidity / salinity areas thanks to its great resistance to humidity and other atmospheric agents. It has a wonderful range of colors from greens to grey browns, and sometimes blacks, though it lightens in time. The grain tends to be straight, though it can occasionally be wavy or interlocked. Teak also has a slightly oily or greasy feel due to its natural oils. Although it is a more expensive initial cost it pays itself back in reduced maintenance costs thanks to its characteristics.
